Centrally located only 12 kilometres from the Sydney CBD, the City of Ryde is home to major commercial and residential centres, a diverse range of neighbourhood and town centres, extensive national parks and waterways.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager to lead our Business Infrastructure Department in the provision of a diverse range of services to the community and to Council, including: waste, plant and fleet, property management, Porters Creek Recycling Centre and business & project integration services.

Key to this position will be the ensuring all Council’s diverse property portfolios are managed to approved standards, expanding & increasing sales at the Porters Creek business, reviewing and improving business systems within the directorate and overseeing current Council and regional waste contracts.

Astute business management skills and a customer service passion are essential components of this role.

This is a high profile management position in the City Works Directorate leading an established, award winning team.

Key Requirements

  • A graduate degree level qualification in Finance and/ or Systems or other appropriate qualification or extensive relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in waste management, plus two or more of the following: property management, business administration, contract management, construction materials recycling, Plant & Fleet and/or project management/ systems development
  • Strong relationship management skills and demonstrated ability to build and leverage relationships across multi-functional or multi-discipline teams, including external service providers
  • Excellent knowledge of legislation, regulations, design standards and codes of practice related to the construction and management of infrastructure and public domain assets
  • Highly developed written communication skills including the ability to develop and/or oversee the preparation of tender and contract documentation, business plans, complex briefings and technical reports
