Civil Assets Engineer

Temporary Position (up to February, 2019), Full - Time, 70 hours per fortnight

Salary Range = $79,725.83 - $100,666.91/- per annum (subject to skills and experience)

Transport and Civil Infrastructure is responsible for the provision, management and maintenance of urban infrastructure and the delivery of transport, traffic and urban infrastructure services.

The Role and Responsibilities

The role of the Civil Assets Engineer is be the key contact within Council for customers, community and asset users, providing a specialist advisory service, and liaising with all stakeholders, to enable effective investigation of and resolution to all roads and transport and infrastructure asset issues.

The Transport & Civil Infrastructure (TCI) Assets team effectively acts as the ‘client’ for all road and transport related assets within the remit of Northern Beaches Council.  The range of tasks includes; working with various TCI Team’s in developing and implementing operations, maintenance and renewal strategies, works programs and projects, plans and specifications for roads and transport infrastructure assets.

The position will investigate customer concerns and requests, determine scope of works for in relation to new and existing roads and transport infrastructure asset operations, maintenance and rehabilitation.

  • Manage day to day customer requests in relation to road infrastructure assets operations, maintenance and rehabilitation ensuring that customer requests and issues are fully investigated and appropriately resolved
  • Develop, implement and manage new capital and renewal programs for Council’s road infrastructure assets. The tasks involved will include the full range of project management matters, include scoping and proposing projects, writing and administering contracts, reviewing feasibilities and co-ordinating consultants, tendering and project managing delivery programs and budgets
  • Assist the Road Asset Planning Engineer with the preparation and implementation of Asset Management Plans and budgets utilising specialised knowledge and analytical skills to formulate and implement recommendations

Selection Criteria

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience in the implementation and use of Asset Management Systems and knowledge and understanding of asset life cycle principles
  • Demonstrated experience in applying asset management principles associated with construction, maintenance and/or operations of road network (and / or linear) assets
  • Demonstrated experience in project and time management
  • Commitment to continuous improvement which results in positive change/s in the workplace and service delivery.
