Within an team midwifery setting at Wallaroo Hospital, you will provide high quality acute midwifery care aimed at improving patient health outcomes. Assessing individual patient needs, you will plan, implement or coordinate appropriate service delivery from a range of accepted options. You will also provide health education, counselling and rehabilitation programs to improve the health outcomes of individual patients or groups. It is expected that you will provide support and guidance to newer or less experienced staff, Enrolled Nurses, student nurses and other workers providing basic nursing care. Consolidating your knowledge and skills, you will develop in capability through continuous professional development and experience. Wallaroo Hospital and Health Services is part of the Yorke and Lower North Health Services. Our hospital is a 21 bed complex and is located with a seven bed private hospital. We have inpatient care in general medicine for adults and children, as well as palliative care. There is 24-hour accident and emergency coverage provided by nurses on site, with general practitioners on call.The midwifery program currently delivers approximately 140 babes per year, managed collaboratively with GP shared care.
The successful incumbent will need to be able to work both individually and as a part of a small team providing antenatal, intra-partum and post par-tum cares and participate in a team on call roster.
You will be registered or eligible for registration as a midwife or Registered Nurse/Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. You will have proven experience in acute nursing care in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice, along with effective communication skills, including problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills. With the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and prioritize workloads, you will be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within an acute setting.
This position will participate as a part of the case load midwifery practice.
