The Community Safety Unit is responsible for fire prevention, animal management, residential inspections, permit issuing and ensuring compliance with Council’s ‘Community Local Law’.
As a Community Safety Officer, your job will involve investigating complaints, undertaking inspections, impounding animals, issuing infringements, preparing reports for briefs of evidence, and presenting evidence in court. Some overtime, after-hours and weekend work will be required on a roster basis.
Applicants with experience and knowledge of the statutory responsibilities and relevant legislation would be highly regarded. A Certificate IV level qualification in Statutory Compliance, Animal Control or similar would be advantageous, however customer service and conflict resolution experience is just as valuable. We understand that these skills can be gained in many ways. If you have experience managing sensitive situations and are good with people, we want to hear from you.
Successful applicants will be required to attain a Working with Children Check and undertake a national police check.
