The Department of Planning & Environment is the lead NSW Government agency in planning for a growing NSW. The Department is going through an exciting period of organisational and operational change.

The Department’s two related agencies - the Office of Environment & Heritage and the Office of Local Government - support the conservation and protection of the environment and an effective local government sector in NSW. Several other entities associated with the Department include the Environment Protection Authority, statutory trusts responsible for zoos, parks and gardens, independent assessment and planning bodies, and development corporations.

Primary purpose of the role

The Communication Manager leads a team and drives activities to support the development and implementation of communication and engagement, with a focus on a specific high-profile business line. The role drives activities to support a best practice community and stakeholder engagement approach across relevant industry and sector groups.

 

The role provides expert advice and cohesive specialist support to senior executive and business units to ensure the community and stakeholders have opportunities to inform specific program and other agency service delivery.

 

The role manages a small team who provide communications strategy and products across a full range of communications channels also including digital and social media.

 

Essential requirements:

Agency experience is welcome.  Willingness and capacity to occasionally travel to outer suburban and regional locations, and to work outside of core business hours in the evening and on weekends

 

To be successful in the role, ideally you will have:

Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, policy or related discipline and/or relevant equivalent experience
