About us
NSW Primary Industries (NSW DPI) supports the development of profitable primary industries that create a more prosperous NSW and contributes to a better environment through the sustainable use of natural resources.
Within NSW DPI, the Biosecurity & Food Safety Division is responsible for effective management and risk minimisation of biosecurity threats to NSW as well as the through-chain regulation of food safety. It delivers a risk based approach to policy and compliance, and provides regional engagement and coordination in response to emergency incidents and natural disasters impacting primary industries and the food sector.
About the role
As the Director Animal Biosecurity Programs you will provide expert advice, and deliver animal biosecurity policy and programs in accordance with relevant biosecurity legislation. You will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of contemporary animal biosecurity programs and policies in NSW by integrating scientific information, commercial requirements and biosecurity strategy into optimal policy and program solutions.
You will be also responsible for overseeing the overall approach to policy development and project management, providing leadership, integration and reform of systems, processes and tools, to improve the consistency, efficiency and performance of program delivery.

About you
You are a proactive and results driven professional seeking a challenging strategic position. You will possess experience leading organisational and operational change initiatives across teams, while maintaining scientific and technical expertise, to develop an agile and integrated approach to policy and program development.
Additionally, you are a proven senior leader with the ability to provide veterinary advice to inform animal biosecurity strategy, policy and program development.
Registration as a Veterinarian in NSW is not essential but desirable. If you are registered Veterinarian in NSW you will as act Deputy to the Chief Veterinarian Officer
