Insights and Analytics Officer

  • Role can be located in Sydney or Gosford 
  • Salary range $94,783 - $104,918pa (Grade 7/8) 
  • Temporary opportunity up to 6 months with possible extension to 12 months
SafeWork NSW is responsible for reducing fatalities and serious injury across NSW workplaces, as set out in the NSW Roadmap. The success of the Roadmap is dependent on effective injury and illness surveillance that provides the evidence to support harm prevention initiatives.

The Centre for Work Health and Safety is a collaborative research body that promotes a new perspective and a smarter approach to the way we think and act towards work health and safety (WHS). We use holistic research, data analysis and evidence-based insights to inform policy, practice and innovative WHS approaches.

The Centre’s Insights and Analytics team covers a range of functions, including the development of a WHS data hub, estimating the WHS risk of NSW workplaces via machine learning algorithms, and expert analytical and statistical support to the Centre’s research projects. 

As the Insights and Analytics officer, you will work in collaboration with the Senior Insights and Analytics Officer to provide support across data, analytics and administration for the Centre.

Using your expertise in analytics, you will ensure ‘best science by coordinating data entry, collation and analysis from a range of sources to influence improved WHS practice and behavIours in NSW workplaces. 

Ability to use a programming language for statistical computing and graphics will be highly regarded – R/Rstudio preferentially.
