River Sands is a diversified manufacturing business with multiple factory, quarry and distribution operations spread around Queensland and Australia. Established over 40 years ago, this growing business manufactures and distributes a wide range of construction materials, chemicals and landscape blends in packaged and bulk forms to the building, mining, concrete, civil and landscape industries around the country.
The Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be managing a small internal team of engineering and drafting resources as well as managing external consultancy services in order to complete a diverse range of plant improvement and growth projects. Your role will involve developing well-reasoned engineering solutions, preparing estimates and cost proposals, managing minor and capital projects as well as managing technical issues as they pertain to site operations (ie projects relating to safety and environmental compliance).
In addition to you being a technically capable engineering professional, the ability to plan activities and manage and mentor people will be key in order for you to optimise efficiencies and improve business performance.
Skills Required
- Significant experience in engineering design of plant and equipment specifically in the fields of materials handling, minerals processing and slurry pumping
- Experience managing engineering, drafting and technical personnel
- Ability to develop well-reasoned engineering solutions to plant and maintenance issues
- Ability to manage and execute capital projects
- High degree of people leadership and management
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent (Mechanical or Electrical)
- 10 years + experience in a similar role and environment
