Construction Sciences is a leading provider in the mapping and management of existing underground utilities and excavating within high risk and sensitive environments. Due to our continued success and expansion, we have a new opportunity for a Project Engineer / CAD Drafter to join our team in Melbourne. The position is an excellent career opportunity for the successful candidate to grow their career within Utility Engineering.
  
As a Project Engineer / CAD Drafter, you will assist in project planning and delivery, and prepare and deliver detailed working drawings for the mapping of utilities and support the Project Managers and senior project staff. We are looking for a driven individual to work within our team of surveyors, project engineers and field technicians.
  
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  

• Project planning, coordination and delivery of utility mapping projects on time and within budget
• Coordination of field teams
• Competently prepare detailed working drawings of subsurface utilities while maintaining client and industry standards
• Collaborate with project staff to ensure drafts are within scope
• Provision of ad hoc support to the project team
• Liaise with local government organisations and authorities for permissions and approvals
• Supporting the implementation of HSE standards and practices by the project and field teams
• Ensure company ISO Quality Assurance standards are met and procedures are followed

Skills and Experience:

• Demonstrated experience in a similar role
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working within a civil engineering environment with experience drafting utilities
• Tertiary qualification in drafting
• Demonstrated ability to understand design requirements and produce appropriate drawings using Micro-station and AutoCAD software products
• Strong subcontractor management skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders
• Demonstrated experience in managing staff and strong leadership
• Strong plan reading and report writing skills
• Understanding of subsurface utility engineering standards
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, systems, and legislative compliance
• Current drivers’ licence
• Survey experience highly desirable
