The client

Our client is a leading and independent service provider for the engineering and operational maintenance of Solar PV power plants. They currently operate 1 GWp of solar plants throughout Europe & UK and have recently expanded into the Australia market. With a strong success in winning O&M contracts for solar farms in Northern QLD, they are now looking to grow regional teams to provide premium O&M services.

The role

Our client is looking for a competent and reliable Engineer to join their Operations Team as a Plant Manager. This is an office-based position, where the ideal person will be fully responsible for the day-to-day management of a solar farm. This includes a wide range of operational activities including ensuring safe operations of assets at all times, monitoring and controlling assets via SCADA and interfacing systems, reacting to new and developing events onsite, and managing and communicating with contractors.

Key responsibilities

- Responsible for the failure-free operation of all PV installations.

- Receipt, evaluate and prioritise of failure alarms, organise failure correction carried out by the Field Technician, and maintain documentation of performed work in an automated ticket system.

- Coordination of on-site service through planning, communication and management of Field Technicians and subcontractors.

- Creation of periodic documentation as well as event-based documentation. These include reports of all PV installations and report of the annual maintenance activities.

- Interface to customers as the first point of contact for inquiries with technical-operative content, distribution of reports and participation in periodical telephone conferences with customers owning bigger portfolios.

- Independent determination of necessary and appropriate additional work and retro-fitting for PV installations. Calculation of customer offers for additional work as a result of the ongoing O&M activities. Handover of larger additional orders.

- Continuous reporting to Country Manager on latest status (larger projects, work scheduling etc.). Constant contact with control centre and project department regarding projects that are executed on installations assigned.

- Keeps an updated level of knowledge in the area of expertise by ongoing training.
