Downer Rail a leading name in the manufacturing and maintenance of rolling stock across Australia has a unique and exciting opportunity for Electrical and Mechanical Engineers to join our Maryborough site due to increased work loads. Based on the Fraser Coast you will be working with the largest passenger train contracts in Queensland.
You will be directly responsible for understanding the engineering scopes for QRs projects and writing engineering documentation to direct the operations team. You will work with clients, suppliers, mechanical engineers, electrical designers and electricians to ensure that all aspects of Electrical /Mechanical engineering are compliant with applicable Australian and European standards while ensuring that electrical systems interface correctly with mechanical systems and meet client and passenger requirements. You will be a champion of our Zero Harm policy and standards, in ensuring the safety of yourself, Downer staff, client staff and passengers. You will assist the project team to ensure that your assigned projects are managed in a cost effective and efficient manner.
You will have:
•Tertiary qualifications in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
•Proven experience in Rail or a related heavy industry environment with a focus on system design, production and maintenance.
•Strong hands on design skills, with expert knowledge of electrical and electronics systems.
•Experience with controller programming using LabVIEW, 3D CAD systems such as NX and/or Electrical CAD (ECAD) systems such as ElecDes will be an advantage.
•Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex electrical concepts to all areas of the business.
•A track record of adhering to safety and standards, with a strong analytical eye for detail with ability to understand change management and process improvement.
