Description              

This is a full-time position reporting to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for fault finding and proactively repairing machinery as well as preventative maintenance which enables the mill team to produce on time, high quality products. The workshop will always be kept to the agreed housekeeping standards and there will be a home for everything and everything in its place. This is a hands-on maintenance role and will require drive commitment and a pro-active, flexible approach

Key Role Function:

  • Preventative maintenance of plant and equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations and manuals with a focus on maintaining safety and maximising production
  • Resolve operational or technical equipment problems to minimise processing/manufacturing interruptions resulting from equipment breakdowns/failures
  • Work as a member of the Maintenance team, including contributing to a positive team environment and supporting the training and development of all machine operators
  • To ensure the plant and equipment is implemented and maintained in accordance with Engineering standards, local and statutory legislation, ISO systems and Health & Safety legislation
  • Plan, schedule and organise own work within the requirements of the work plan, and coordinate with other parties as required
  • Complete tasks assigned on the basis of priority and assess and arrange job requirements
  • Ensure assigned trades work is completed safely and in accordance with quality requirements, company policy and all statutory requirements
  • Initiate and complete Work Orders and ensure timely sign off / close off for completed work along with relevant feedback information and other reports as required
  • Provide immediate responses to emergency work orders
  • Provide trouble-shooting expertise as required
  • Provide daily feedback and reports on progress and work completed against schedule and reasons for variance, recording delays and recommending action to eliminate future delays
  • Ensure mechanical work is performed in accordance with safety requirements and always maintain a safe working environment
  • Contribute to own personal well-being and the well-being of co-workers and demonstrate active involvement in Safety Tool Box Meetings
  • Contribute ideas for continuous improvement and assist in the development of job procedures as required.
  • Build and develop relationships at all levels across the operations function in order to spark ideas for continuous improvement
  • Contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the maintenance team, including maintaining punctuality, participating in flexible hours arrangements for maintenance and occasions of after-hours breakdowns, and providing shift cover as required
  • Working with managers to implement the company's policies, procedures and goals
  • Have a full working knowledge of the maintenance component of the ERP system and continually strive to identify system efficiency improvements and ensure all uses in your area are working within the system requirements.
  • You will be expected to collaborate in other tasks and activities that will be out of your main responsibilities

 

On offer is a challenging role in a busy sawmill with remuneration commensurate with experience. You will have a minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience in a similar role within the manufacturing or saw milling industries. You will have a demonstrated a strong mechanical ability and a trade qualification as a fitter and turner or mechanical fitter. You will exhibit a positive, friendly and helpful attitude. You will be a great communicator, have a can-do attitude, and will be eager to immerse yourself into our fast-paced environment. If you had an understanding of sawmilling equipment and some experience with Lean Manufacturing principles this would be a clear advantage. You will have a clean drivers licence and you are seeking a pivotal role that will see you maintain a wide variety of plant and equipment.  You will be an Australian Resident with fluent English.  Your ability to communicate and work with people at all levels, and support process improvements will also be critical to your success.
