Solargain has invested in a highly skilled, dedicated Commercial division which has grown to be one of the market leaders in Commercial solar Australia wide.  With a growing commercial solar business, we are now looking to expand our team responsible for Victoria and New South Wales sales.

Role

Based in West Melbourne, we are looking for a customer-focused electrical/solar engineer and/or highly experienced electrician looking to utilise their solar industry expertise and skills to manage a wide range of PV projects.

You will also be supporting our Commercial sales team, meeting with prospective commercial solar customers, advising them on renewable energy solutions that best meet their needs and providing design advice and costing analysis.

Reporting to the General Manager for Solargain’s Commercial division, we are looking for someone who is interested in a genuine long-term career with Solargain and see this role as a pivotal appointment to deliver on our growth strategy. 

The position is best suited to someone who is energetic and highly professional with the drive and skillset to ensure timely delivery of high quality projects to our customers and partners. 

You will join a strong team of self-confessed solar addicts, consisting of highly experienced and qualified engineers, business developers, project managers and support staff.

Duties

• Responsible for electrical design works based on project design briefs; including preparation of control philosophy, electrical wiring diagrams, and switchboard construction drawings;
• Responsible for PV design and costing during sales/tender process, including selection of and procurement of equipment;
• Assist with the preparation of tender documentation; collect information, assess material requirements and costs, obtain quotations;
• Prepare detailed testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning plans;
• Provide technical assistance to onsite installation team;
• Carry out onsite pre-commissioning and commissioning requirements as per prepared plans, and to client satisfaction; and
• Management of project timelines including coordination with external service providers.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in the management and delivery of commercial solar projects (essential);
• Electrical engineering degree and/or A-grade electrical certification (essential);
• Experience in electrical subcontracting or construction industry (highly desirable);
• CEC design and install certification (highly desirable);
• Sound knowledge of industry and Australian regulations and standards;

• A strong technical understanding of the distributor/retailer requirements in Victoria & New South Wales;
• Team orientated;
• Professional & responsive, with a can-do attitude; and
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.

Remuneration

For the right candidate we are offering:

• Generous base salary including vehicle allowance;
• Participation in gross margin based commission; and
• Company mobile phone and laptop.

Requirements

• Construction Card and Working at Heights;
• CEC design and install certification (highly desirable);
• Drivers Licence;
• Successful applicants will hold a current police clearance or be able to provide one within one month of commencing employment; and
• The position is open to Australian citizens &/or persons that have a legal, valid right to work in Australia.
