The Role

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an environmental planner to join the team in our Townsville, Cairns or Rockhampton office! You will support a broad range of environmental approvals projects across a range of sectors, delivering technical excellence. As part of this dynamic role, you will work closely with engineers of varying disciplines, drafters and project administrators as well as clients and contractors external to the business. In addition to delivering high quality technical documentation and reporting requirements within the office environment, this role will also require you to undertake fieldwork.

You will actively participate in, and contribute to, the technical aspects of projects, ensuring time and budget constraints are met, you will also be given the opportunity to play an active role in winning projects. Utilising your excellent communication skills, you will build positive relationships with peers, clients and stakeholders, both internal and external to the organisation, contributing to the overall success of our business.

About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • 3-8 years relevant professional experience
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge of the relevant market for consulting services
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects and meeting delivery requirements
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, report writing, development of proposals
  • A strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline driven team environment
  • Quality and productivity in execution of duties and responsibilities as outlined above
  • Able to interpret and apply Commonwealth and Queensland planning and environment legislation to a wide range of projects and activities
  • Able to develop and implement approvals strategies, including obtaining approvals
  • Able to utilise critical analysis and problems solving to find appropriate solutions to development, legislative and planning issues
