The client

Beilby are pleased to be working in conjunction with a consultancy that has provided services, globally, to the Mining and Infrastructure industries for over 50 years. A well-known name in Perth, they offer a range of services to their clients from mining and geotechnical services through to SMP and EI&C. Since a recent merger in 2016 they now have over 15,000 staff and 400 offices worldwide. In line with planned growth they currently require a Principal Metallurgist to join from their Perth CBD offices.

The Role

The Principal Metallurgist is one that sits at the forefront of mining projects. You will be responsible for leading the team in producing Reporting to the Process Group Manager, you'll be responsible for:

  • Process plant design, equipment selection, process design calculations and process documentation for a wide variety of mineral processing plants and be responsible for developing the detailed design of the approved concepts.
  • Project tendering & Project management; ensuring project goals and milestones are achieved
  • Management of project teams
  • Business Development; leveraging of existing networks and liaison with Coffey BDM
  • Providing a high level of customer service in relation to engineering services to internal and external clients

Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification in MSc Process Engineering or Metallurgy (or related discipline);
  • 15+ years’ experience in the mineral or chemical processing industries.
  • Broad, in-depth knowledge of Metallurgy and the resources sector with the ability to manage, lead design, schedule projects.
  • Significant experience and proven success in similar roles, within consulting environments, in the mining industry
  • Considerable competence in comminution, flotation and leaching technology
  • Significant experience in metallurgical studies and analysis of results
  • Ability to manage medium sized projects and understand risk mitigation methods.
  • Ability to manage teams to achieve successful project outcome.
  • BD capability with good industry contacts within the WA mining industry
  • Proficiency in Bentley Open Plant
