The role of the structural engineer is a key component in the construction process, and is concerned with the design of mounting options for network installation components and assessing physical integrity of buildings and other structures. This involves both builds, maintenance, upgrades and relocations of infrastructure within Uniti Wireless customer and core network configuration.

Responsibilities

  • Efficient creation of structural design assessments and implementation of processes required for this work as defined by the tower acquisition strategy, Management or Executive
  • Populate Scope of Works or instructional documents, including but not limited to, construction, upgrades, maintenance and repairs, with all required structural details structural engineering activities and workload so as to fulfil the site acquisition strategy 
  • Conduct structural engineering activities to assess scale attributes of equipment required to support wireless technology 
  • Develop work practices to deliver repeatable and consistent design approaches and provide reference by site name, site ID and suburb where relevant
  • Prepare and progress applications for planning, building and development approval as appropriate for all relevant structures
  • Prepare weekly work in progress reports on request or at team meetings
  • Complete engineering site surveys, or assist in the support required for field staff or contractors to complete surveys
  • Provide survey results to the team involved in the creation of site scopes.
  • Assess the results of surveys provided by field staff or contractors to be provided in a site scope.
  • Attend sites as directed by Infrastructure & Provisioning Project Manager to ensure all issues are attended to in a timely manner
  • Contribute towards tender responses, proposal preparation and business development opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with relevant National and State legislation, codes and standards
  • Manage and keep up to date professional registration and certification processes
  • Maintain professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including efficient communication practices
  • Maintain an energetic and enthusiastic approach to motivate the teams to achieve above expectations;


Qualifications

  • Recognised degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
  • Professional accreditation with Institution of Engineers Australia
  • Good understanding of engineering registration, approval and certification requirements, at both National and state levels
  • Good knowledge of Legislation, Codes and Standards, relative to Structural Engineering discipline in Construction and Telecommunications industry sectors
  • Project management experience
