About the business and the role

Establishment of Sinobau Australia

Sinobau Australia was established in Aug.2014 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shanghai Sinobau Metal Construction Development Co., Ltd. with a registered capital of US $ 500,000.

Its primary purpose is to be responsible for the sales of Sinobau products, the promotion of curtain wall technics and products import & export.

Introduction of Sinobau Group

Sinobau Group is a production enterprise for building façade based on digital fabrication owning 8 subsidiaries which are responsible for providing technical advice, curtain wall fabrication, steel structure, free form shaped external façade panels. It has Approximately 400 employees. The annual turnover is around 600 million. As the Parent company, Shanghai Sinobau Metal Construction Development Co., Ltd is a major company within Sinobau Group.

Sinobau has achieved a number of projects with the highest industry standards- the Specially Shaped Monolayer Steel Grid lattice Shell of Sun Valley at Shanghai World Expo. Many other great achievements of contemporary art and tectonics such as the Shanghai Port International Cruise Terminal, with GRP components. Shanghai Zendai designed by Arata Isozaki. Shenyang Starmall Plaza.

Sinobau highly integrated approach in design and engineering, manufacturing capacity, can be flexible and scientifically it will be a combination of various contemporary techniques to make a variety of building a first-class level, in order to meet the various needs of customers and to realize radical, innovative and creative architectural designs.

Project of Sinobau Australia

In 2014 when the company was just established, Sinobau Australia Pty Ltd successfully obtained the first large project called "Eastland Shopping Mall" depending on the technical support and mature construction experience of the Chinese Headquarter. After a series of strict investigations and tender process, Probuild Constructions Pty Ltd as the Contractor and Eastland Property Holdings Pty Ltd as the Principal chose Sinobau Australia as the final Subcontractor. The contract price was US $17,100,000(Excluding GST) and the scope of work was design, fabrication & installation of Specially Shaped Curtain Wall. The project was completed in early 2016 and the Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull attended the opening ceremony, its exterior design became a landmark in Melbourne.

In the next 2 years, Sinobau opened the market in Australia smoothly because the technique concept of our Sinobau Group has been recognized by the local market and we completed dozens of projects such as Banksia NewQuay Central,Lakeside Apartments etc,and we are now carrying out Riverina Aprartment,South Melbourne Primary School,Sydney Crown Resort Hotel etc.We currently hasa number of other projects are in contact.

 

Job tasks and responsibilities

Responsibility of the position

To establish and improve the relevant organization matters and local system rules, maintain an efficient and high quality team in Australian company, and familiar with the relevant technology and installation standards in Australia and China. To be able to master the relevant technology and good at using Chinese report and contact with Chinese head office. Presided over the Australian company's day-to-day project business, addressing technology and site major coordination issues.

To contribute as part of the management team to the future direction of the business and to achievement of the Chinese head office's strategic planning.

To work under the direction of the Chinese head office to ensure that the necessary resources are allocated to meet Departmental requirements and standards in order to provide excellent levels of client service at all times.

To deliver all the requirements of Chinese head office policies in particular those designed to improve People Performance and Engagement on construction site.

To estimate the budget and report to Chinese head office in Chinese Mandarin,to manage the tendering and bidding in Australia for Chinese head office

Provide the technical support to marketing manager and attend the meeting in tender stage to respond queries from client

Determining and monitoring engineering strategies, policies and plans for Chinese office and factory

Coordinate with Chinese head office to interpreting plans, drawings and specifications, and providing advice on engineering methods and procedures to achieve construction and production requirements based on Australian standards

To support director of Chinese office communication and biding on key major projects in Australia

To ensure projects are delivered in accordance with the contract requirements and keep eye on every target for Chinese factory

Ensuring all the drawings and documents from China conformity with specifications and plans, and with Australian laws, regulations and safety standards

Ensuring engineering standards of quality, cost, safety, timeliness and performance from Australian client are achieved by Chinese team

Work closely with other functions in China to provide a responsive service that meets the needs of the construction contract

Main tasks of the position

Travel between Australia and China to coordinate with main contractor and Chinese head office

To plan, organize, direct, control and coordinate the engineering and technical conversation between Australian client and Chinese head office

To ensure the curtain wall projects running smoothly and keep cost-effective with Chinese products and set up set up the wonderful reputation for Chinese head office in curtain wall industry

Training Chinese team including engineers/factory/QA/logistics/to meet Australian client requirements

Skills and experience

Qualification needed for this position  

  • Relevant bachelor degree or higher qualification
  • Bachelor degrees in Mechanical Engineering or Construction, more than 6 years of experience of engineering in curtain wall industry, meet the above requirements

Relevant skills needed for this position 

  • Communication skills in Chinese Mandarin and English, bilingual writing, oral translation
  • Knowledge of Chinese building curtain wall industry and relevant industry standard and information
  • Familiar with Australian regulations in building curtain wall industry and relevant industry
  • Familiar with several kinds of building curtain wall 3D software and finite element calculation software

Relevant experience needed for this position 

  • More than 6 years of experience of engineering or engineering management and coordination in curtain wall industry
  • Mainly involved in at least five curtain wall projects in China which beneficial to the convergence and improvement of technology between Chinese head office and the Australian market.
  • Mainly involved in or organize the completion of at least five curtain wall projects in Australian which beneficial to the convergence and improvement of technology between Chinese head office and the Australian market.
  • Previous substantial project management experience in delivering capital works projects.
  • Demonstrated success in effectively managing relationships with stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation and best practice.
  • Understanding of the requirements of an operators licenses on site.
