This is an outstanding opportunity to join the market-leading subsidiary of a multinational aerospace organisation located at Bankstown Airport. SAFRAN Helicopter Engines Australia is a well-respected OEM and supplier of gas turbine engines for helicopters to both civil and military markets.

 

About the role:

We are currently seeking a trade qualified Aircraft Mechanic with a flexible, mature, team minded attitude to work as part of a team carrying out level 3 repair and overhaul activities on helicopter engines and APU's within a workshop environment.

 

Minimum Qualification / Experience:

  • Certificate IV Aeroskills (Aircraft Mechanic) or equivalent
  • Minimum three years recent experience working in the aviation industry

 

Desirable:

  • Experience of repair & overhaul on gas turbine engines
  • Assembly / Disassembly experience will be highly regarded
  • Experience & qualifications on MTR390, RTM322 or APU323 will be highly regarded

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

The primary role of the Aircraft Mechanic is to carry out assigned mechanical tasks related to the maintenance, repair and overhaul of helicopter engines and APU's in accordance with relevant airworthiness regulations, manuals, approved documentation and procedures.

Some key responsibilities of this role will be:

  • To work as a fully integrated, hands-on member of the workshop team, working to priorities communicated by the relevant Manager through the relevant Lead Mechanic
     
  • Ensure that the following primary operating objectives are met:
    • Turn-around-time for work-in-progress is completed within targets,
    • Maintain the highest quality of product expected from an OEM, to ensure a minimal cost of non-quality
    • The percentage of your productive time on task per day is at or above targets The percentage of your time on the job is at or below the standard productive hours set for the task at hand
    • Maintain a safe working environment at all times.
       
  • Proactively contribute to error management and continuous improvement initiatives and implement actions as directed by the relevant Lead Mechanic.
     
  • Have a thorough understanding of technical manuals, be able to interpret instructions in written, diagram and technical drawings forms.
     
  • Ensure freedom from foreign objects by maintaining their area and equipment and the surrounding areas in an impeccably clean and organised state using 5S methodology.
