About the Role

 

The project is an underground rail based materials handing project. We are now seeking a Mining Engineer to provide leadership and direction for the definition and execution phase of this Major Capital Project to manage the project within the approved business objectives, within the constraints of scope, time, quality and budget. You will represent the project to the client and our Business, and manage relationships proactively through building positive engagement all stakeholders, as well as coaching team members in effective stakeholder engagement.

 

Key responsibilities include;

  • Lead the implementation of safe systems of work; ensure appropriate Health and Safety Management, plans are developed and implemented; ensure alignment to HSEC operating standards, including effective Field Leadership; drive safety expectations and culture
  • Reinforce and verify that relevant Risk Management activities for the client and our business are managed and met
  • Monitor and manage project systems and compliance with excellent project management practice
  • Lead in the management of the execution schedule, cost and to deliver the project’s scope of work in accordance with the approved business case
  • Drive best value decision making to ensure the project moves forward, minimizing delays and setbacks in the drive to attain the Project KPIs
  • Drive implementation of the Project Execution Strategy (PES) and Project Execution Plan (PEP)
  • Monitor the delivery of the project to ensure that deviations from the Project Execution Plan are controlled, approved and communicated, change control is paramount
  • Lead the creative process of exploring and evaluating all valuing creating opportunities
  • Establish and implement project development systems and processes to support operational outcomes
  • Ensure appropriate resources are recruited and allocated to projects so that they can be delivered on time, on schedule in accordance with project management best practices
  • Lead and align the project team, through inspirational engagement inclusive of coaching and development programs and creating a high performance team
  • Represent the project at monthly Steering Committee established with key Operational personnel and alignment sessions as required
As this is an integral role within our business, we are looking for a committed and driven individual who demonstrates successful leadership and people management attributes whilst also exhibiting strong technical understanding in brownfield engineering project management activities. In is envisaged that you will have the following skills and experience: 
  • Demonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in ‘Safety Leadership’
  • Degree qualified in Mining Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience in senior project management, with a focus on execution, including delivery of lump sum projects
  • Prior experience in leading and managing a team, with management reporting capability
  • Sound commercial acumen in relation to contract and supply agreements, including claims management for successful delivery of projects safely, on time and on budget
  • Experience in delivering large underground multi-disciplinary projects in a complex brownfield environment
  • Experience in delivering Definitive Feasibility Studies
  • Must have executed 5D projects and have experience with 7D technology
  • Must have experience in Underground Mining Materials Handling & EPCM Shaft Sinking Projects
  • Must have managed geographically separated
  • Proven financial evaluation skills
  • Working using a range of project delivery models encompassing project full-life cycle
