The Future Submarine CSI Program

Lockheed Martin Australia has been selected as the Combat System Integrator (CSI) for Australia’s Future Submarine fleet. The Future Submarine Program will be the largest Defence procurement program in Australia’s history and represents an investment in the order of $50 billion in Australia’s security. Our team continues to grow, and we have several Senior Systems Engineering opportunities to join our R&D IPT within the Future Submarine CSI Program.

The R&D IPT will play an integral role within the program and is a rare opportunity to be working closely with industry, academia and the customer.

Some of the activities this role will undertake are:
  • Assist in the development of R&D processes and reporting metrics
  • Identify and define R&D needs associated with immediate FSM technology gaps and future opportunities
  • Assist in the communication of R&D needs to industry and academia
  • Review and evaluate the suitability of R&D proposals received from industry and academia
  • Review progress and manage relationships with established R&D organisations
  • Identify and liaise with internal and external Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), as required, to support R&D activities and reviews;
  • Participate in R&D workshops with the CoA
  • Lead and/or support development of program CDRLs or subsections
  • Establish and foster a strong working relationship with the FSP customer, partners, and R&D stakeholders to ensure customer needs have been translated and communicated

 
Ideally, you will have skills and experience in:
  • Strong demonstrated experience in the strategic planning and conduct of R&D;
  • Strong demonstrated specialist knowledge in Systems Engineering in an engineering development lifecycle of requirements analysis, design, implementation and testing gained ideally within a defence or defence contracting environment
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across all program levels;

Developing our staff is important to us and we have a number of training programs that include the Submarine Domain, MBSE and other specialist packages that have been implemented and have received great feedback from the existing team.
