NEPEAN Longwall, are currently seeking a highly-motivated individual to join the engineering team as a Trainee Designer, based at the Company’s Mackay QLD site.
Over your traineeship, you will be provided with extensive on-the-job training and mentoring to equip you when working in professional and experienced teams on exciting and prestigious projects. You will develop skills in the latest Inventor and engineering technology and gain vast experience as a member of a tight-knit team. This is an excellent opportunity to commence a career in mechanical engineering.
Successful applicants will complete engineering studies as part of an industry recognised traineeship.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Prepare design layouts, models, and other engineering specifications for production use to fill customer requirements,
- Produce 3D models that comply with Australian and Company Standards
- Provide information for creation of Technical Reports and Service Bulletins
- In consultation with engineers, participate in design risk assessments and root cause analysis
- Undertake field trips and go underground at coal mines to observe machines in operation and gain an understanding of their application parameters
- Liaise with customers as required to understand requirements.
Experience, skills and attributes required:
- Mechanical/engineering interest and aptitude
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
- A self-starter, a team player and has a high attention to detail
Experience, skills and attributes acquired:
- The ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- 3D design software
- Drawing/document control
- Workshop experience (welding, fitting, hydraulics)
- Project management
