SunWater is Queensland’s largest bulk water service provider with an 80-year history of delivering world-class bulk water solutions for agriculture, industry, mining and urban communities. We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Planning Engineer which will provide whole of life planning and advice across asset portfolios for north and central Queensland regions.

About the role:

  • You would implement and comply with SunWater’s asset management policies, strategies, management plans, systems and processes as they apply to non-routine asset maintenance;
  • Provide strategic long-term asset portfolio type experience across major electrical equipment (LV / HV motors / transformers, control & cabling systems / networks / SCADA and telemetry);
  • Conduct and document asset inspection and condition and risk assessments (including the delivery of the dam safety inspection program) in accordance with SunWater’s asset policies and processes and State Government conditions and guidelines;
  • Develop, maintain and manage a sustainable, commercially focussed non-routine maintenance investment plan;
  • Coordinate the development of non-routine maintenance project specifications, budget estimates and business cases across other teams and business partners to support the development of the non-routine maintenance works program; and
  • Provide input to business improvement initiatives and annual budgeting.

About you

The successful candidate must have demonstrated and proven experience in the following (but not limited to):

  • Demonstrated engineering experience in a large commercial operation with skills in infrastructure and strategic asset management and experience working within a regulated environment;
  • Working in a self-directed manner to plan and coordinate work to ensure pre-agreed objectives and deadlines are met. This includes project cost estimates and scheduling, negotiating resources, monitoring progress against targets and reporting;
  • Sound knowledge in applying relevant legislative, statutory and industry standards in relation to design and maintenance of water infrastructure;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative and effective asset management strategies to deliver commercially sustainable operations supported by stakeholders;
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely;
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including consultation, negotiation and relationship building skills; and
  • Proven track record in teams engaged in delivering asset management programs and managing competing demands for resources.
