Keolis Downer is the proud operator of Yarra Trams, the oldest and largest light rail network in the world. Since 2009, Keolis Downer has significantly invested in Melbourne’s tram network and community. In September last year, the Victorian Government has awarded Keolis Downer the contract to run Yarra Trams until at least 2024. This is an exciting time for the team at Yarra Trams as we begin delivery of our new franchise term.

To deliver on these exciting new challenges, Yarra Trams requires the services of an experienced Program Manager to drive the availability and productivity outcomes required to address our fleet reliability and high levels of reactive maintenance.

What the role entails
This position is a great opportunity for an experienced and committed Program Manager to assist the business in consistently achieving the KPIs for fleet utilisation and timetable availability whilst achieving the improvements in fleet safety and value for money outcomes.
Reporting to the Director, Rolling Stock, the role involves:
• Coordinating the implementation of the Rolling Stock Maintenance Operations Super Depot Strategy by assisting with the development and execution of a project plan with key milestones;
• Coordinating the development and execution of the Rolling Stock Heavy Maintenance uplift project plan with key milestones;
• Providing progress reports to the Rolling Stock Department Managers and highlighting issues and risks of relevance;
• Identifying opportunities for improvement in the effectiveness and efficiency of Rolling Stock Performance Reporting;
• Establishing appropriate project management plans, delivering to plans, monitoring and reporting to ensure project success;
• Ensuring appropriate internal project governance structures are in place and leading and participating in external governance frameworks as required;
• Representing Yarra Trams’ organisational interests in negotiation with public authorities and other stakeholders.

What you will need for this role
To be successful in this role, you will have:
• Extensive achievement in change management within a large, complex, unionised business environment;
• A high level of project and program management knowledge, with a demonstrable track record of effective and efficient program & project delivery using best practice project management methodologies;
• Extensive experience in managing large and complex projects including risk identification and management and experience in managing at least one large program;
• Strong leadership, strategic planning and business skills;
• Strong communication and persuasive skills to deal effectively internally and externally at the most senior levels;
• Strong respect and awareness of legislative issues & obligations (eg: OH&S).
