We are a family owned and operated business in it's 16th year of operation and are currently seeking a Maintenance Planner & Safety Co-ordinator to assist with the planning and co-ordination of maintenance and facilities functions of the business and to ensure occupational health and safety compliance is obtained on all plant and machinery operation.

This position reporting to the Engineering Lead, requires a hands on tertitary mechanical / electrical trade or engineering degree qualified, self motivated individual. You will need to have strong organisational and leadership skills with the ability to meet business objectives on time.   You will co-ordinate the engineering and maintenance functions of the expert fitters and work as understudy to the Engineering Lead in succession of his role.

While the team of fitters will primarily support the production outcomes this role will also involve some trades skills when the need arises.   Such tasks include trouble shooting, repair production equipment failures, and ensuring maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness.  

Key responsibilities of the role 

• Procure & Facilitate the maintenance spare parts workshop stores inventory for the maintenance team.
• Enhance and co-ordinate the planning of maintenance activities for the fitters for  preventative, predictive and ad hoc maintenance activities.Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) used is in Pronto XI.
• Plan and implement risk assessments on new and modified plant and equipment.
• Manage resources efficiently to ensure maintenance requests are prioritised appropriately to meet business needs and expectations.
• Drive compliance of and continuously improve the site OH & S processes, ultimately toward formal accreditation.
• Ensure food safety and quality requirements(HACCP) are adhered to within the scope of your responsibility.  
• Lead continuous improvement through effective coaching and mentoring of direct technicial staff and operators in relation to safe operation of plant and equipment.
• Providing assistance to the Engineering Lead in managing the department budget to ensure that budgeted costs and expenditure are in line with forecasts.
• Co-ordination Emergency Management Procedures at site

Requirements of the role

• Highly motivated
• Strong Leadership skills
• Tertiary mechanical or electrical trade qualifications and /or relevant mechanical,   electrical or mechatronic engineering degree. /Fitter and Turner apprenticeship.
• Maintenance planning and managment experience
•  Computer savvy.  Exposure to CMMS on  Pronto XI regarded.
• The site operates a number of shifts across seven days so the position requires a flexible approach to work beyond the core hours from time to time.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to build relationships.
• Adept at dealing with maintenance in the food manufacturing industry.
