About the opportunity

The Senior Instrument & Controls (I&C) Engineer role is based in Perth, WA and reports to the Chief Engineer, as well as Project Managers across a wide variety of projects. We are looking for engineering professionals with solid experience in a similar role within a design and execution team.

The position will be responsible for

• Project studies and concept designs including estimating, architecture development, control/communication philosophies and prototyping.
• Development of control system design and implementation deliverables, including control system architectures, I/O Lists, communication block diagrams, technical specifications, scopes of work, functional descriptions, functional specifications and test documentation.
• Development of instrumentation design including instrument schedules and datasheets.
• Overseeing, directing or personally delivering small to complex I&C designs on key industrial, water and infrastructure projects.
• Working as part of an interdisciplinary team and managing engineering and design resources to deliver on I&C scope.
• Providing leadership/guidance to junior engineers.
• Support development of engineering / design effort hour estimates for small to medium jobs.
• Active participation in HAZOPs and Risk Assessments.
• Driving the pace and efficiency in the delivery of I&C design and execution projects.
• Interface with vendors to ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Attendance at panel factory acceptance testing and vendor integration testing.
• Construction support and on site commissioning (various locations).
• Promotion of Safety in Design on I&C projects.
• Contribution to marketing opportunities for new business and developing stronger client relationships
• Supporting Project Managers / Designated Project Executives managing risk, project delivery, HSEC, quality and service.
• Lead I&C engineering project meetings, both internal and with our external clients.

About you

• Engineering degree qualification.
• Extensive experience in significant I&C design and/or execution projects.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of the team.
• Mentor our I&C junior members and drive technical excellence in delivery.
• Proven successful delivery of I&C system projects.
• Credibility and relationships with industrial, water and infrastructure clients in WA.
• A desire for personal development and a keen eye for detail.
• A focus on quality and performance.
• Ability to develop and drive proposal plans for particular opportunities.
• Experience with water and wastewater process control is preferred.
• Experience with radio communications design is preferred
• PLC, RTU and SCADA development experience required.
• Siemens S7 and Schneider Electric Modicon PLC development experience preferred.
• CitectSCADA and ClearSCADA experience preferred.
• Experience with multidisciplinary design interfaces (particularly process, electrical and mechanical) required.
• Functional Safety experience beneficial.
