The $2.5 billon NorthConnex Project is the construction a 9km dual tunnel motorway that will connect the M1 and M2 motorways. Delivered by way of Roadheader construction Northconnex will become Sydney’s longest and deepest tunnel, and will deliver significant benefits to local communities by easing congestion on Pennant Hills Road, putting more than 5,000 trucks a day underground and returning local streets to local communities.
 
As part of the construction Joint Venture Bouygues Construction Australia and Lendlease Engineering have collaborated to draw on their substantial global and domestic experience in urban tunnelling to deliver this exciting project.
 
We are currently seeking a Safety Coordinator to join this iconic project and play an exciting role in shaping Sydney’s future.
 
Based in West Pennant Hills and reporting to the Safety Manager this role will see you working collaboratively with the Project Manager whilst:
  • Building and supporting the project safety culture in a positive manner.
  • Ensuring that all employees and sub-contractors are adhering to the NorthConnex Work Health and Safety Management plan, policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring compliance on Permits to Work, safety inspections and test plans.
  • Providing safety support to the construction teams
  • Reviewing sub-contractor SMP’s and SWMS prior to commencing work.
  • Weekly and monthly reporting on safety KPI’s.
 
To be successful for this role you will have well developed communication and negotiating skills as well as:
  • Tertiary Qualification in relevant discipline: Advanced diploma or Degree in Engineering, Science, Building, Construction or Project Management
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Understanding of civil construction particularly within Mechanical and Electrical
  • Understanding of WHS legislation, codes of practice and standards.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment drug and alcohol and medical testing.
