We are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer / Senior Procurement Officer to join our Sydney based team to assist in the bidding / tender process for a 3 to 6 month contract. If successful in these tenders, there will be an opportunity for an ongoing role.

The prime focus of the role will be to coordinate, forecast, build supplier relationships and assist in the development of tenders and the delivery of project activities.

Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • To ensure the successful delivery of tender requirements with respect to Procurement matters.
  • Conduct market survey, compare the technical and economical assets, deal with the applicants and suppliers in order to find the best technical and economical proposal to purchasing.
  • Ensures all purchases have a signed purchase requisition before placing any purchase orders.
  • Review planned expenditure against budget and obtain approval for all procurements.
  • Assist  with supplier and subcontractor tender packages including tender price analysis.

To be considered for this role, the following is essential:

  • Experience in similar role in the construction industry.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in a purchasing role within a major infrastructure or construction environment.
  • Ideally a minimum of 5 years experience within a International company, dealing with a corporate office or projects in different currency's.
  • Knowledge of construction materials and steel structures.
  • Experience working with construction subcontractors, including negotiation of terms of supply.
  • Experience in Rail / Tunnel  or Major Infrastructure, ideally within a metropolitan area.
  • Well-developed organisational skills and able to pay attention to detail.
  • The ability to work to deadlines and targets and can prioritise tasks under pressure.
