Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Coordinator
A well-established tier one electrical and mechanical services business established for over 50 years. We are a leading provider of services to the commercial and industrial sectors. The company offers the expertise required to design, supply, install and maintain a wide range of electrical, mechanical, security and communication service technologies.

A Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Coordinator is required for our Electrical Team. This person will assist projects and project managers in the delivery of their projects. He/she will report to the various project managers as allocated, on a day to day basis, and functionally to the Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Coordinator.

HSEQ Coordinators shall provide HSEQ specific, technical expert advice regarding Company’s requirements and other recognized best practices in HSEQ.

The Role Description will include but not limited to the following:

  • Ensure that project team are aware of their responsibilities and their deliverables in terms of both work output and their personal behaviours;

  • Maintain knowledge of current governing regulations, codes and practices, and inform the Management whenever revisions to the HSEQ management plans are required;
  • Provide timely advice to the project management team regarding opportunities to achieve the highest standards of HSEQ;
  • Develop and implement initiatives to engage management, supervision and personnel in achieving the HSEQ vision;
  • Demonstrate leadership and commitment to the achievement of HSEQ objectives, and to the success of any HSEQ initiatives;
  • Review and report on HSEQ performance in their area as required;
  • Assist, where appropriate, in Contractor Safe Work Method Statements and ensure copies are maintained for records;
  • Provide HSE topics and other information to Company and Contractor management as required for pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, etc.;
  • Ensure that Contractors supply, maintain, operate and locate all safety and emergency equipment in accordance with legislated, Company and Customer requirements;
  • To actively promote HSEQ excellence and so create a strong HSEQ culture;
  • Challenge unsafe behaviour and correct inappropriate HSEQ performance;
  • Understand and apply legislative HSE requirements;
  • To have and apply a full working knowledge of all applicable HSEQ Management Systems;
  • Monitor and review site HSEQ inspections and reporting;
  • Ensure the undertaking of, or to conduct investigations and reviews of all incidents such as all injuries, accidents, incidents, health exposures, and fatalities, and produce investigation reports for circulation to Company, Customer, Contractors and the required authorities where required;
  • Consult on and resolve HSEQ issues including supporting incident investigations, etc.; and
  • To generate contingency plans to respond to emergencies.
  • Assist with and review Site Specific HSEQ Plans including those of subcontractors.
  • To develop and maintain local environmental and waste management programs (including any measuring and monitoring requirements).

Minimum Requirements

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Previous experience in Australia as a Health and Safety Coordinator within building construction.
  • A tertiary qualification in Health and Safety – Minimum Cert IV in WHS.
  • Sound understanding of the construction environment and a sound knowledge of the relevant

Legislation and Codes of Practice.

  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of HSEQ processes and compliance for OHS Regulations, Acts and Workers Compensation Legislation
  • Confidence to implement and ensure compliance of safety processes across sites
  • Comprehensive skills in Microsoft Work, Outlook and Excel
