About the role

Your Role:

The overall purpose of this position is to develop customer loyalty by providing a high level of customer service to specific Major Accounts.

This position offers a single point of contact to the customer, enabling the Internal Major Account Officer to make decisions and offer proactive solutions. 

The Internal Major Account Officer's main responsibility is to provide a tailored, dedicated service to Major Account Customers ensuring those customers' needs are being met.

 Operational and Administrative:

  • Process and enter orders
  • Attend to emails in regard to pricing and availability
  • Produce Back order reports
  • Produce reports for Customer / Account Managers
  • Liaise with Product Managers regarding pricing
  • Be customer and sales focused.
  • Vendor management
  • Recommend improvements to quoting and Major Account Management procedures and policies. 

People and Customers:

  • Perform all tasks with the customer in mind.
  • Actively continues to develop personal skills either internally within the company or externally on approved divisional training courses.
  • Provide quotations to both – customers as requested

Commercial and Financial:

  • Perform all work with consideration to the economical use of resources.
  • At all times, maintain an acceptable standard of appearance and demeanour and act as an ambassador for the company.

Skills and experience

Who you are:

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent (Majoring in a relevant discipline as required). (Diploma or laboratory experience is sufficient).
  • Minimum 3 years relevant working experience in Customer Service / Major Account Management, preferably in the scientific industry.
  • Should have knowledge of scientific processes and products.
  • Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills
  • Must have competent/ advanced system / computer skills. Working knowledge of Scala, SAP and/or salesforce.com would be an advantage.
  • Must be service oriented with a positive attitude.
