About the opportunity

We are looking for a full time manager to work within our well-established internal facing Personal Independence team in Sydney.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop a career in the broader Quality & Risk group at Deloitte Australia. Being an internal facing role, the successful candidate will work with the various businesses within the firm and get exposure to a range of partners and staff at Deloitte. By working with senior partners and staff, you will have every opportunity to develop a highly rewarding profile within the firm.

You would also develop a niche and specialised knowledge in the area of audit firm independence. You will have the opportunity to develop your consultation skills, and gain knowledge on critical quality control systems within a large organisation.

About the work

The role of Personal Independence is to ensure there is an effective independence quality control framework in place to assist partners and staff with the application of independence policy, maintain operational and compliance systems, monitor compliance and encourage and support consultation.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Personal Independence Audits that are undertaken across the year in accordance with the Global Firm requirements. Take responsibility for the successful completion of these audits and preparation of the required reports for both the Australian Executive and Global Independence.
  • Management of the Lateral Hire Partner Process including support to the Mergers and Acquisitions Transactions Team in relation to the Personal Independence of lateral partners.
  • Assist the Personal Independence Director with the management of personal independence compliance, and the maintenance of the systems in place to support this requirement.
  • Manage and respond to internal queries from partners and managers within the business.
  • Assistance in standardising independence processes, controls, templates and documentation.
  • Coaching and developing more junior team members.
  • Participation in training and awareness raising within the Firm.
  • Project management and support to the Personal Independence Director as and when required.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with the business quality & risk teams, and other member firm independence & conflict teams.

About you

You must be a collaborative, service-minded person who is always ready to roll-up your sleeves to manage or action requests from our internal clients.

The desired skills required include:

  • Knowledge and prior experience in quality and risk management would be highly regarded.
  • Excellent verbal and written business communication skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial investment products (desired but not essential).
  • Team management skills
  • Experience in meeting required deadlines and reporting to leadership

  • Have drive, self-motivation, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn;
