Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced permanent full time Risk Specialist to join the Finance, Governance and Risk Group, based in Gladstone.

The purpose of this position is to strengthen and maintain a strong risk management environment that assures Council and Executive Team that systems are in place to effectively manage risk exposures. This role will be an advocate for the risk management framework and will work actively across the business to embed a strong risk management culture. The role is a key leadership position that regularly interfaces with the Councillors, Chief Executive Officer and executive leadership team.

About you

1. Tertiary qualification and/or extensive demonstrated practical experience in a relevant field.

2. Demonstrated experience in facilitating transformation, change, and/or improvements to deliver successful and significant business outcomes along with a demonstrated ability to identify, implement and review the process to affect positive change/s in service delivery.

3. Demonstrated analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility.

4. Demonstrated initiative, including the ability to initiate and respond effectively to change.

5. Demonstrated commitment to transformation and change which results in positive change/s in the workplace and service delivery.

6. Excellent written and oral communications skills, including the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders.

7. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and operating corporate business systems.
