The Role
The opportunity is as a junior trader/analyst for the electricity derivatives desk which trades on both the Australian and Singapore exchanges. The core focus will be on the Australian market, where you will be responsible for supporting the trading book through daily analysis and execution, as you work with the senior trader to maximise profit return within given risk limit constraints. On the Singapore market you will be responsible for supporting the execution team, along with providing any analysis you can with the data available. Remuneration is directly linked to performance so a high level of ownership is expected for decisions, with performance over time being rewarded with more autonomy on the book.
Responsibilities:
- Analysis of market fundamentals to come up with trading strategies
- Execution of said strategies in collaboration with the senior trader
- Risk management of positions to ensure efficiency of returns within the risk framework
- Execution and analysis on the Singapore market
- Execution and analysis on other commodities markets with opportunities for further growth over time
Skill Set and Experience Required for Position:
- Minimum 2 years trading experience within the Australian electricity market where you were responsible for creating, executing and managing positions
- Collaborative and able to work within a close knit team
- Intimate knowledge of Australian electricity market fundamentals
- Strong analytical skills across all necessary disciplines
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to communicate effectively with all market counterparts
- Strong understanding of markets and risk management strategies
- Understanding of options and futures contracts
