The Company

Robert Half Executive Search is partnering exclusively with a publicly-held US market leader which is now seeking a General Manager Finance (ANZ) at its Melbourne headquarters.

Our client’s innovative products and services are relied upon by a diverse range of industries with heavy reliance from the Property and Construction sector. Having developed a niche market across the full life cycle of research, design, manufacturing, sales & distribution and after-market, it successfully trades within over 30 countries globally.

The global group has identified the Asia Pacific market as a focus for strategic commercial growth, and following a recent major acquisition, a critical role exists for a savvy General Manager Finance (ANZ).

The Role

Reporting to the CFO (APAC) within a matrixed structure, your broad role will involve leading the ANZ finance of up to 10 staff encompassing financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, taxation, cash flow management, internal control and business process improvement. You will also support the merging and integration of a recently acquired business and be adept at leading a number of change management initiatives within the organisation.

You will lead a number of key initiatives within your first 12 months including :

  • Focus on the daily accounting and finance operations for Australia and New Zealand
  • Manage the year-end processes including engagement with external auditors
  • Evaluate existing team structure and implement changes to ensure operation at maximum capacity
  • Support the integration of the newly acquired businesses
    • Assess current financial management processes and controls and identify areas for process improvement
    • Lead the integration of multiple accounting systems
    • Evaluate and strengthen existing internal control processes to manage risk and ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley
    • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development.

FINANCIAL CONTROL

  • Prepare statutory financial reports for the ANZ region and oversee financial reporting process.
  • Implement internal control processes and procedures and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).
  • Manage regulatory advisors across audit, financiers and legal including special external, internal audit and tax compliance.

BUDGETING & FORECASTING

  • Manage the monthly Management reporting for the ANZ region into APAC HQ.
  • Provide financial analysis in the support of development of long-range plans.
  • Oversee monthly and quarterly budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Work with operational management to identify key drivers supporting budgeting and forecasting and analysis of actual results.

M&A TRANSFORMATION

  • Participate in CAPEX decision making and approval and ensure cash flow is adequate.
  • Identify areas for cost reduction and process improvement.
  • Assist with accounting for acquisitions and ensure due diligence through the acquisition process.

Your Profile

CA qualified, you will have built from an earlier career within Big 4 Audit and of more recent years, worked as a Finance leader within the subsidiary of an international business.

You will have progressive career experience and proven success managing teams within FMCG, Manufacturing or an Industrial related business.

Having strong technical accounting knowledge gained through working with multi-national corporations, you will be well versed in accounting principles and financial reporting requirements prescribed by US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley, as well as have a thorough understanding of Australian audit procedures.

You will thrive within an ever growing international organisation, and be the driver of business process improvement and financial control across the ANZ region. You will be the trusted advisor to the CFO and the business and be able to lead the Finance function whilst the CFO travels in region.
