The Valley Private Hospital is an acute medical and surgical hospital that provides services to over 1.2 million people in Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs. We have a 24 hour Emergency Department, state of the art cardiac and orthopaedic service, and a wide range of on-site medical, surgical and allied health services. About the role

This position contributes to the achievement of our mission and goals by:

  • Assist the Finance Manager with the preparation of balance sheet, profit and loss statement and other reports.
  • Preparation of monthly scorecards and circulation to management at hospital
  • Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents.
  • Maintain accounting  and financial security by following internal controls
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information.
  • Prepare financial reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising account information and trends
  • Prepare payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements.
  • Support Finance Manager in development of budgets and  forecasts
  • Supervise and coordinate all admission and discharge administrative functions including monitoring of debt collection, billing
  • Monitor Health Fund Income Report to identify patients exceeding appropriate Length of Stay and to ensure all inpatients are raising revenue in line with funds contract
  • Collation of information for daily Key Performance Indicators and distribution to nominated groups
  • Assist with the balance of the monthly FA report and upload new assets
  • Preparation of payroll analysis and WebPAS reporting
  • Oversee accounts payable and prioritise payment schedules
  • Process and code invoices
  • Oversee stocktake and collation and balancing of actual to financial records
  • Any other duties as required by the Finance Manager

Skills and experience

  • Bachelor of Business (Accounting) or suitable equilivant
  • Completed or studying towards CPA or CA
  • Excellence in Customer Service
  • Friendly, professional presentation, style and manner.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and discretion.
  • Experience in hospital mainframe system – WebPAS.
  • Strong MS Office skills.
  • High attention to detail
  • Experience in similar roles
  • Experience in hospital mainframe system- WebPAS
  • Experience in Accounting systems – Oracle
  • Comprehensive understanding of Private Health Fund Contracts including eligibility checks
  • Highly developed communication, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with all disciplines of professional staff.
  • Ability to be flexible and work as part of a team in a busy, demanding work environment, together with well-developed time management skills and the ability to prioritise work.
