Our Local Government client has an exciting opportunity for a Management Accountant to join an already high performance finance team in Central West NSW.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role is focused on overseeing our clients financial systems, leading and developing a finance team and the provision of effective and efficient accounting support to the finance division.

About the role. Functions of the role include but not limited to;

  • Coordinate and oversea accounting functions such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Inventory and Plant.
  • Lead, coordinate and develop a finance team of 4 and assisting with enquiries from other departments.
  • Weekly and monthly reconciliation of various accounts, investments and other ledgers.
  • Performing expenditure reviews and acting as co-signatory for cheque and electronic transfers.
  • Maintenance of general ledgers.
  • Producing monthly and quarterly budget reporting.
  • Preparation of Annual Fringe Benefits tax returns and assist with the preparation of annual financial statements and other statutory reports.

Essential criteria;

  • Tertiary qualifications in either Business or Accounting.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, reviewing and reporting on budgets.
  • Demonstrated experience in lodging end of financial year requirements including FBT and GST and general operational annual returns.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a work team and ensure day to day, monthly and annual requirements of the finance area are met.
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in using Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated advance report writing, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Highly desirable;

  • Demonstrated experience leading a finance team (3 Years +).
  • Previous Local Government experience, ideally using the Authority financial management program.
