Head-Office Financial Accountant – French Speaking
ABOUT WEST AFRICAN RESOURCES LTD:
West African Resources Limited (“WAF”) is a dual ASX and TSX-V listed gold company. Currently the Company is preparing for the development and subsequent operation of the Sanbrado Gold Mine in Burkina Faso, West Africa.
THE POSITION:
We are seeking a motivated, experienced and French-speaking financial accountant to join our small high-performing head-office team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with and report directly to the CFO of a fast-growing successful mining company. You will be provided with an orderly handover of all aspects of the head office financial accounting responsibilities that are currently performed by WAF’s external accounting service. Located in our new Subiaco WA headquarters, you will take over responsibility for the day-to-day financial management of WAF’s Australian subsidiaries as well undertake the group consolidations and manage the Group-level reporting. Key responsibilities will include:
- Review financial reports and reconciliations received from WAF’s Burkina Faso finance team
- Accounting in MYOB for the Group’s Australian and international subsidiaries
- Australian and expat payroll in MYOB
- Process superannuation payments
- Australian and foreign currency accounts payable in MYOB
- Lodgement and payment of BAS
- Group month-end close including corporate-level journal entries
- Group monthly consolidations
- Preparation of monthly financial reporting pack including variance narratives
- Quarterly 5B cash flow report for ASX
- Yearly and half-yearly statutory financial statements and liaison with our auditors
- Update cash flow forecast
- AUD and FX bank reconciliations
- Update fixed asset registers
- Review and process local and international payments
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
As a key member of a small team for a rapidly growing company you will need to be a skilled and experienced accountant who genuinely enjoys bookkeeping, computerised accounting systems, and financial spreadsheets. You perform well under time constraints by identifying priorities and delivering on deadlines.
Key requirements of the position include:
- Fluency in French and English
- Studying for your accounting designation or have completed it
- 5-plus years in a head-office accounting role with 3-plus years at a level similar to this one
- Extensive experience using computerised accounting systems
- Expert-level Excel skills
- Previous mining-industry experience is not necessary
