The Company

Our Client is a For Purpose organisation, passionate about making a difference on a national scale. They pride themselves on providing individuals and communities with services, skills and opportunities to achieve their goals. An exciting opportunity is now available for an experienced Business Development Officer to join their team in Cairns

Please note this position is 20 hours per week. Hours and days can be flexible to suit, taking in to account the requirements of the business.


The Position

Reporting to the Business Development Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute to the ongoing development and program optimization for various programs including (SEE) Skills for Education and Employment, (EST) Employability Skills Training, Certificate 3 Individual Support and Certificate 3 Guarantee (coming in July) as well as promoting Disability Employment Services
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers and key stakeholders within the community
  • Prospect for new business opportunities through a range of marketing activities including networking, cold calling and attending community and industry events
  • Researching local industries and employment opportunities
  • Participating in networking opportunities, including events outside of standard business hours
  • Providing information and education to employers regarding incentives
  • Develop and maintain a detailed knowledge and understanding of the relevant programs, scope and objectives in order to promote such programs to the community and employers

The Successful Applicant

To be considered for this opportunity you must meet the following criteria:

  • Proven, recent experience in a similar Business Development or marketing role within the Employment or Training Sector
  • Have an excellent understanding of DES Contracts and Employer Benefits
  • Experience working for or liaising with Disability Employment Services Providers is highly regarded
  • Proven ability to build rapport quickly and establish relationships and networks within the sector
  • Demonstrated Business Development outcomes achieved through innovative and creative marketing and promotional activities
  • An energetic and flexible behavioural style which can promote positive outcomes and solutions through the programs
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including development of professional marketing materials with appropriate branding and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to liaise with a diverse range of people
  • Be community focused with a desire to help others
  • Have a driven attitude with the ability to work autonomously

Applicants must also have the ability to complete a police check, hold a blue card and have a current driver’s license.
