My client is the APAC subsidiary of a Global European Engineering Products Business with divisions across Mining, Marine and HVAC.

The business has been established on the East Coast of Australia for many years and is now looking to have local representation in Perth covering WA and SA.  The key areas of focus in these markets are mining and marine engineered products.  Initially, this will be a work from home role.

The product ranges include mechanical couplings, mechanical power transmission products for industrial applications and electromagnetic components.  These are technical and specified products sold both directly to end users and through a small distribution network.

While there is a small and stable base of existing sales, the focus of this role is to grow sales of the mining and marine ranges via end user specification and increasing distribution opportunities.  My client has long term plans for the region and is looking to grow through forming quality, mutually beneficial relationships with customers and by growing and developing local staff.

To be successful in this role you will need the following attributes and skills:

  • Be able to identify, define and execute business development plans for each segment in your region.
  • Provide quality technical advice and communicate product benefits that meet customers needs.
  • Prepare quotations, negotiate commercial terms and manage client expectations.
  • Understand and report on competitor activity.
  • Meet sales and profit targets.
  • Have previous experience in the mining and/or marine equipment and maintenance sectors.
  • Be able to get technical products specified by end users.
  • Most importantly, you must be resilient, able to work as part of a small technical sales team, take direction and work autonomously.  You must be a self starter.

A competitive salary package based on experience, including base, super, car allowance and bonus is on offer to attract high caliber candidates.  This is not a role for recent graduates or those without significant sales engineering and market development experience.  The company can provide long term stable employment for the right candidate.  Only local candidates with full Australian working rights are eligible to apply.
