Our client is an industry leader in the staging, lighting, and AV arena. They are currently seeking a Business Development Manager – Architectural Lighting. This role reports to the Lighting Sales Manager.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Business Development Manager  (Architectural) shall:

Actively plan and implement strategies to expand the Company’s business in the  Architectural Lighting market throughout Australia.

Maintain relationships with relevant technical, sales and marketing contacts within organisations supplying products relevant to architectural lighting business.

Plan and implement regular calls outs and build relationships with key Architectural Lighting Consultants, End Users and Integrators throughout Australia.

Duties and Responsibilities

•        Achieve Architectural sales targets

•        Build and maintain business relationships with key Australian consultants, end users and contractors.

•        Research and identify potential new/up and coming consultants and contractors and develop business relationships with same.

•        Ensure company CRM accuracy via regular updates.

•        Oversee design assistance requests from consultants, end users and contractors.

•        Develop and deliver technical presentations for both internal and external parties for Architectural Lighting control and luminaire products

•        Stay up to date with current industry trends and developments, providing market intelligence to management that may increase the company’s competitive advantage in the marketplace.

•        Ensure appropriate technical information relating to the Architectural Lighting market is disseminated to all relevant parties.

•        Provide related marketing content on a regular basis to marketing/communications department.

•        Provide frontline services to the market, consisting of pre-sales engineering support and product training.

•        Provide technical support services to the company’s internal and external clients.

•        Represent the company at presentations, trade shows and industry events where deemed necessary.

•        Provide regular reports to management detailing outcomes of training, demonstrations, client contact and market research. 

Qualifications and competencies

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or ability required.

Qualifications & Licences

•        Tertiary qualification or relevant industry experience in Architectural Lighting System Design.

Experience & Knowledge

•        Minimum of five years’ experience in the architectural lighting field, preferably in a system sales, design or support role with a systems integrator, distributor or consultancy firm.

•        Broad industry experience in the design, installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of architectural lighting systems particularly in applications such as theatres, function centres, Convention and Conference spaces etc.

•        An extensive list of Consultant/Contractor contacts within the Australian market with established relationships with the same.

•        Comprehensive understanding of the requirements and operation of modern architectural lighting systems.

•        Good understanding of IT systems as applicable to modern lighting control products and systems;

•        Familiarity with products and supported lighting control software applications.

•        Demonstrated ability and experience in product training and project co-ordination.

•        Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to negotiate and communicate (in writing and verbally) with all levels of stakeholders, both internal and external.

•        Ability to work efficiently within a team environment and with minimum supervision.

•        Demonstrate technical drawing skills, computer aided design software knowledge

•        Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, coupled with sound administrative skills.

•        Possesses intermediate skills in Pronto Xi Management System.
