An outstanding permanent opportunity has presented itself to join this logistics company in Altona as Safety & Compliance Manager. You will be the subject matter expert for safety and compliance for different sites (Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales, Western Australia and Queensland), your main focus is the rail side of the business. In this relationship driven role you will influence the business stakeholders and provide specialist advice and assistance, recommend strategies and solutions.
Your new company considers safety to be paramount and is pro-active in providing a workplace that encourages, stimulates and embraces health and safety within all of their operations. In order to continually improve safety, your new company achieved and maintained numerous accreditations.
You report into the National Manager: Accreditation, Compliance & Safety. You new manager is very experienced in the safety field, for example, he set up the entire safety management system.
Key responsibilities:
- Implement key elements of Safety and Compliance strategies when needed
- Identify risks and impacts as well as recommend actions to enable the resolution of complex business challenges
- Continue to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Make sure that the business is aligned to the new legislation for heavy vehicles that is coming in June 2018
You are a highly visible and knowledgeable Safety & Compliance professional and provide proactive leadership and coaching to your stakeholders. To be successful in this opportunity you will require a big passion for safety. You will be capable of leveraging support from senior stakeholders and have a pragmatic approach to achieving organisational goals.
You need to have a background in a blue collar environment as well as a degree qualified in Occupational Health & Safety and/or Work Health & Safety. You have experience in a similar Workplace Health & Safety Managers role. You understand the legislation around health and safety and the AS4801 accreditation.
