An opportunity exists for an experienced Payroll/Human Resources Officer to be part of a dynamic Human Resources Team, supporting the Australian and PNG Operations. This is a part-time (3 days per week) maximum term opportunity for 12 months, providing you with hands on payroll and HR analytics experience in a mining company dedicated to continuous improvement and to being a WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality.

Reporting to the HR Superintendent, you will have a keen eye for detail, be very organised, great with extracting and analysing HR metrics for reporting and supporting business cases, and be well versed in payroll processing and payroll legislation and ensuring accuracy in your work.

Responsibilities you will be accountable for include:



  • Providing the full suite of Payroll services including internal monthly payroll checks
  • Data analytics and deriving HR metrics including preparation of the monthly HR report
  • Utilising HR technology to extract and present data in a meaningful way to support business needs, including management of internal trackers for HR systems compliance
  • Assisting with preparation of external reporting as required
  • Providing administration support to the HR team as required.

You will have a proven track record:



  • Delivering to promise with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Working collaboratively to build effective and positive working relationships
  • Working with discretion and handling of confidential information
  • Undertaking the full suite of payroll processing
  • Providing timely response to payroll queries
  • Using MS Excel including advanced charting, formulas and functions
  • Strong background with reporting and providing quality assurance /data checking.
