We are looking for an experienced Work Health and Safety Officer to join us on this journey. The Role
Reporting dually to the Group Risk Director based in the UK and the People and Projects Director based in Sydney, the successful applicant will review existing procedures and implement programs to provide a safe and healthy working environment for all personnel. This role will contribute in a meaningful way to the organisational goal of “Safe, Legal, Compliant” by maintaining an appropriate health and safety and food hygiene framework, to comply with all legislative and regulatory requirements across all areas of operation.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Reviewing existing procedures and ensuring there are appropriate Risk Assessments and Safe Working Practices in place across the business
- Working closely with the Operations teams for stores and cafes, to ensure that safety procedures are being complied with, through ongoing monitoring of regular self-assessment returns and periodic site inspections
- Oversee delivery of health and safety training for staff
- Recommend policy on fire, health and safety issues
- Conduct a small number of health and safety audits, to assess the quality of procedures, assist with hazard identification and the development of appropriate safe working practices
- Oversee the policies and procedures in place for managing food hygiene
- Assist maintaining records of all incidents, injuries and illnesses occurring at the work place in accordance with legislative requirements
- Overseeing the ongoing reporting of any onsite accidents and injuries - investigating the causes of any serious incidents and recommending actions to prevent future occurrences
- Develop and implement occupational health and safety procedures based on approved company policies in the areas of health, safety and fire prevention.
- Conduct plant fire and safety audits, hazard identification and accident prevention programs.
- Liaise with technical specialists, government instrumentalities and industry colleagues to ensure the health and safety procedures comply with best practice
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of five years' experience.
- Relevant health and safety and food safety qualification, coupled with the ability to interpret and apply local standards and legislation is essential.
- Retail environment experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills - with the ability to build strong relationships.
