Due to an internal integration of our Infrastructure and Rail business units, we have an exciting new role that will sit across our Transport and Infrastructure portfolio for a Technical Training Manager.The primary responsibility of the role is to design, develop, implement and manage the technical training framework & subsequent technical training programs across the Transport and Infrastructure Division , specifically delivering Technical Training for Rail Rolling Stock Services. This role has national coverage and reports directly to the HR Manager - TLS. 

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the technical training framework to support best practice and in line with industry standards
• Lead and manage training program design, development and delivery aspects to address competency requirements for maintenance, repair and overhaul activity of each fleet - This includes associated processes involving high risk work (such as driving/shunting, crane operations, forklift etc) and specialist equipment operations that enables work to be performed as part of the maintenance operation.
• Lead a skilled and passionate technical training team
• Maintain currency of technical training material – ensuring consistency with approved engineering plans and standards
• Ensure the structure of the Learning Management System (LMS) is consistent with competency requirements for maintenance and repair of each fleet managed by TLS, included associated processes involving high risk work
• Establish with individual depot managers or maintenance operations managers a pool of qualified/competent personnel to deliver technical training as required
• Quality Controls training and competence evidence recording to ensure compliance against the relevant requirements of the Australian Qualifications Training Framework (AQTF)
• Sources and accesses financial support for the training of technicians from Government programs

About you

• Strong professional experience working in both plant/equipment maintenance or engineering and Learning & Development roles
• Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale training initiatives in a technical training environment
• Ability to adapt to an ever changing, face paced environment
• Qualifications in Training & Workplace Assessment (desirable)
• Strong working knowledge of train design, sub-systems and maintenance processes
• Skills and knowledge in working with VET qualifications
• Advanced stakeholder management skills
