We are currently seeking a HSE Advisor based in Perth, with regular site travel to cover a project for one of clients. The roster is 5 days on, 2 off, 8 hours per day.

This position will ensure that the business risk profile is defined, well understood and managed within the assigned area of responsibility. The role will ensure awareness of health, safety and environment is achieved within the business, resulting in the reduction of risk to as low as reasonably practicable. Duties further include, but are not limited to;

• Ensure WesTrac HSE systems and processes are translated and clearly understood by all stakeholders
• Lead and facilitate hazard identification, risk assessment and critical risk management processes
• Assess HSE risks and issues and develop a tactical plan aimed at reduction of risks as well as a range of HSE training initiatives to increase awareness and technical HSE knowledge amongst a range of operational stakeholders
• Coach, train and mentor management, supervision and technical staff in respective areas
• Lead and facilitate incident investigations, analyse findings and make recommendations
• Conduct audit and inspections within allocated departments ensuring compliance to WesTracs’ policies and procedures

Essential Criteria

• Undergraduate Degree in Occupational Health and Safety and a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in a HSE or similar role
• Certificate IV Training and Assessment
• Previous operational experience in warehousing or transport related industries
• Comprehensive experience in root causes analysis, Lead Investigator course (ICAM preferred)
• Excellent communication skills – interpersonal, written and verbal
• Advanced computer literacy skills (MS Office Suite)
• Highly developed attention to detail with the ability to identify continuous improvement initiatives
• Ability to work successfully within a team and autonomously
• Advanced time management, planning and organisational skills with the ability manage multiple priorities to meet objectives
• Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills with ability to provide recommendations and action as required
• Previous experience developing and facilitating training to a large and diverse group
• Working knowledge of relevant legislation and proven ability to interpret conditions 

Desirable Criteria 

• Post Graduate Qualifications in the field of Occupational Health and Safety or associated discipline
• Valid Senior First Aid Certificate
• Internal/Lead Auditor qualification
