Are you a news and social media junkie?

In the role of Evening Editor, you will autonomously drive the editorial team during our highest traffic period, being responsible for directing a team every evening, assigning stories to content producers, editing and publishing fantastic sharable headlines, and writing quality original stories. 

You are an experienced and senior journalist looking for the next step in your career with a trained eye for quality and experience across a range of media, particularly digital. You will thrive in an environment where you run your own ship and are reactive to the news cycle as it breaks. You get a thrill from working in a bustling news room and collaborating with a like minded team, all while utilising your creativity when under pressure. 

The homepage is your domain, where you're able to prioritise articles according to what's right for the Mamamia audience and achieve the perfect balance of content.

This role also has the flexibility to work remotely and/or part time. Say hello to your home office!

About you:

  • Minimum 3 years experience as a journalist or editor (preferably in the digital environment)
  • Tertiary qualifications in Journalism, Media or Communications
  • Experience managing and leading high performing teams
  • Can come up with original, shareable story ideas that takes the news to a different level for our readers
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to quickly and concisely write well researched engaging stories
  • Can provide team members with quality and specific feedback
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
