About the business and the role

Work for one of Australia's leading wireless engineering and solutions company located in Western Sydney. You will be a key part of the management team, reporting to the General Manager of the business and will be working closely with the executive management team in leading and implementing commercial related strategic initiatives.  Candidates with both engineering and advanced management qualifications will be highly regarded. This is a broad management role with excellent prospects for rapid advancement. You will be directly interfacing with Tier 1 carriers, major vendors and system integrators in developing sound contractual relations.

 

Job tasks and responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

•   Oversee all commercial aspects of the relationship with a client to optimize financial and business operations results and to deliver client value

•   Commercial Manager's role is to meet and/or exceed the expected profitability on each customer account

•   Clearly manage risk and the process for tracking contingency to limit any surprises on the account

•   Function as the "COO" for the account, supporting delivery with day-to-day responsibility for achieving a fully integrated business operations team.

•   Participate with the General Manager in delivering successfully against the contract and client expectations

•   Establish and maintain on site engagement and client relationship

•   Work closely with the General Manager regarding account planning and business strategy

•   Participate in business development activities.

•   Manage a diverse portfolio of contracts for a specific client applying resource as required to effect results

•   Participate in and provide leadership for all client commercial negotiations

•   Evaluate and prioritize levers which drive profitability

•   Provide risk management strategies and techniques to help deliver optimized client value

•   Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities

•   Develop and document business process and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

•   Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting

•   Review weekly bank, payables and receivables report and process payments

•   Coordinate and focus on areas such as:

People Resourcing and HR Plan Management - 

•   Training, staffing, HR support, Facilities, Set Unit Targets, Supply/Demand, Forecasting

Financial Management

•  Planning, Forecasting, Reporting, Pricing, Business Case Management, Profit Management, EVA Analysis

Contract Management

•   Contract Compliance, Risk Mitigation, Negotiation, Vendor Management, Issue resolution

Relationship Management

•   Develop and Maintain Commercial Relationships, Client Expectation Management, Relationship Mapping

Program Management Office

•   Best practices & tool utilization, operational performance  enhancement, commercial dash board monthly reporting, governance meeting structure & coordination, provide pipeline visibility, monitor and increase compliance in delivery risk areas

Skills and experience

  • 5 plus years engineering, commercial and contract management experience in the telecommunications industry.
  • Tertiary qualification in Commerce/Business, Engineering, Project Management/Construction, Operations or similar
  • Experience in structuring, negotiating, and management of commercial contracts including commercial analysis, reporting and making recommendations.
  • Highly developed negotiation, communications and interpersonal skills with experience in managing senior relationships and reporting to executives.
