About the business and the role
GS Fibrecomm are a Canberra based Telecommunications company, who are currently looking for an additional Experienced Telecommunications Linesworker to join their small team, to work at various locations in the ACT. The role will also include some occasional overnight staying away due to working on jobs in various location in NSW.
The position requires someone with previous knowledge and experience of working on various TELCO networks. Preferably including Telstra, and who can show proven experience.
You will be required to liaise with customers and project managers, so excellent customer service and communication skills are paramount to ensure we complete jobs on time, and meet our quality standards, with minimal variations.
You will need to be able to work autonomously and as part of a small team, while bringing your proven experience working on the network and local knowleged to the fore, which will ensure you succeed in the role.
Job tasks and responsibilities
Role:

The Telecommunications Linesworker installs, maintains and repairs external telecommunication equipment such as aerial lines, conduits and underground cables, mobile phone antennas, and limited items of terminal equipment. Including installation of internal data cabling, including some limited fibre splicing testing and commissioning that may be required on occasion.
Tasks Include:
- examining drawing specifications, and design packs for work areas to determine positioning and connections for equipment to be installed
- locating faults and testing installations in telecommunications equipment using instruments such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, ammeters, transmission measuring equipment, Optical time-domain reflecometer's and light and power meters
- attaching wires and cables to appliances and main frames
- adjusting, replacing and repairing faulty items, and testing equipment using electronic instruments
- installing internal and external cabling for telecommunications equipment and computer transmission
- joining cables and sealing sheaths with lead and thermoplastic
- install, test and maintaining aerial and underground wires and cables, and mobile phone antennas
- installing telecommunications equipment and appliances such as, switchboards and data transmission equipment
Skills and experience
The ideal applicant will ideally possess the following Qualifications / Experience::
Certificate III with two year's experience or Certificate IV or 3 years full time on the job experience.

- Preferable experience in working on the Telstra Network as well as Optus and TPG would be desirable
- First Aid
- Asbestos Awareness
- Full driving licence - Manual (Must)
- Safety Awareness
- First Aid Certificate
