Software Engineer

The role:

We are seeking a Software Engineer to develop solutions for our small but fast-growing, dynamic and high performing team in the renewable energy industry.

We are looking for someone passionate about technology, who will enjoy pushing technical innovation by working across multiple technologies to solve interesting, complex and difficult problems.

You will need to be able to be an independent, self-motivated individual capable of challenging existing ideas and proposing new innovations

Your work will range from API and database design and development, development of machine learning solutions, through to Web UI application design and development, testing, problem-solving and deployment.

Salary range is $AUD 90 - 150k + Super, depending on experience and awesomeness.

What you will be doing:

• Solving interesting and difficult problems via software design and development.
• Responding to, diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues and queries
• Developing machine learning forecasting models and solutions
• Software Testing, Release & Deployment
• Code reviews
• Mentoring and Coaching others.
• Research new techniques & technologies that may be beneficial to the team.

About you:

You will enjoy a challenge along with variety in your work and in delivering innovative and practical results.  You will be self-motivated and be able and happy to work autonomously at times.

• High level Object Oriented Programming skills (e.g. Python, ruby  or similar)
• Senior level experience in building products and platforms using web frameworks
• Understanding and knowledge of Javascript
• Familiarity with Meteor, React and node.js
• Understanding of HTML 5, CSS
• Familiarity with SQL
• Familiarity with ANN, boosting and other machine learning models
• Familiar with the *nix command line
• Experience with the distributed version control systems
• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in a technical field (information systems, computer science, engineering, statistics, mathematics, science etc)
• Passionate about emerging technologies
• Strong level of curiosity
