About the role

We are looking for a Manager Cyber Security Improvement Programmes to protect Rio Tinto's digital assets and industrial control systems through the coordination and delivery of security improvement programmes designed to securely enable the business or enhance security capabilities and controls.

This role is a great opportunity for an experienced programme or project manager to take a leading role in overseeing and delivering a range of interesting cyber security projects to securely enable our business. Reporting to the General Manager of Cyber Security Operations & Deputy CISO, you will:

  • Oversee and manage large and complex internal information security projects and programs 
  • Lead stakeholder engagement to ensure that the program meets all scope, time, budget and quality expectations 
  • Provide reliable financial forecasts to budget stakeholders 
  • Manage project schedules and prepares program status reports 
  • Manage complex multifunction relationships with senior and executive stakeholder management 
  • Serve as liaison between program stakeholders, program/project team and senior management 
  • Review status of the program, associated projects and budgets, manages program/project risks 
  • Assess program/project-level risks, and issues and develops mitigation plans/resolutions to meet program/project objectives 
  • Resolve issues across multiple teams, and manages dependencies between projects
  • Ensure project compliance in line with procurement and finance governance requirements

 

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • At least 7 years of hands on experience in project management, preferably with experience delivering information security projects
  • Extensive understanding of critical program / project management techniques and an ability to motivate and lead team members.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes
  • Strong organisation, prioritisation and rationalisation skills 
  • Strong decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate approach 
  • An ability to effectively influence others to modify their opinions, plans or behaviours 
  • An ability to communicate complex and technical issues to diverse audiences, orally and in writing, in an easily understood, authoritative and actionable manner 


It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Strong knowledge of/or business experience in other business units or functional areas outside security.
