Manager - Software Engineering

Let’s talk about you:

We expect you’ll have more than just a few years of experience working on challenging projects. You will have learnt a lot about how to manage and lead a high-performing software team. This role will give you the opportunity to put your software leadership competencies in to practice and leave your mark on projects and processes.

You will have some serious history with embedded systems, preferably in C++, with a qualification in Software / Electrical / Computer engineering or something similar. You will have led teams, written processes and designed architectures as well has having written a lot of great code. You’ll have some strong success stories and a failure or two that you will have learnt from.

Our software is embedded, it’s object-oriented C++ and we do Clean Code. Our code makes a profound difference to people because it helps them breathe: this is a fantastic role to play, but the stakes are high so of course quality is critical. Which means we do have a lot of software process - it’s a medical device after all - but we’re also pretty Agile. Expect SCRUMs, retrospectives, tickets and backlogs. We also invest significant time in maintaining a large suite of automated tests because too much manual testing is unreliable, expensive (and boring!).
